Come to amazing Berlin for the perfect orienteering day! A team adventure, an urban exploration, a psychogeography dérive with many many orienteering maps. You'll have the chance to navigate with a map in unusual places and discover regenerated and post-industrial areas.

MAKE IT A WEEKEND:
The day after (Sunday 25 May) SV Schorfheide will organize an orienteering relay in Eberswalde -more info here-

RACE FORMAT:
Teams of 2, 3 or 4 people
An urban rogaining with orienteering maps where you can use public transport to reach the maps

MAPS:
Most of the maps will be orienteering maps (ISSprOM) specially produced for the event (no existing orienteering maps will be used)
For some special areas some special maps will be used

PUNCHING:
There are no orienteering flags. To show that you reached a control point you answer a question (or send a selfie). The answer will be found exactly at the center of the control circle (you can try with Google Maps Streetview, but I bet you won't succeed :-)

RESULTS:
Result table will be automatically online and competitors are ranked as follows>
Elapsed time, plus 20 minutes each missed question, plus 30 minutes each missed selfie, plus some other penalties for missed special controls

COURSE:
Preliminary course
7 maps, each with 9 questions and 1 SELFIE
To visit all controls you should walk-run for 15-20 km and use many U-Bahn and S-Bahn trains

COMPULSORY EQUIPMENT:
- A VBB 24-hour ticket Berlin AB for each competitor (you buy it by yourself and can be useful before the race to reach the event center)
(if you are 4 people the Small group 24-hour ticket Berlin AB is definitely cheaper)
- A smartphone to navigate in internet, take pictures, read QR codes and use Gooogle Maps or similar
- MOO CHALLENGE App (ANDROID only - no iPhone - sorry) will be used to record the answers and the selfies
MOO CHALLENGE App is not on GOOGLE PLAY STORE, you will be given an .apk file to install
- A pen or pencil
- Paper as a back-up - you never know :-)

WHAT DOES MOO MEAN?
MOO originated in Milan, Italy in 2016 - it means MILANO ORBITAL ORIENTEERING and it kept this name when exported in other cities
MILANO ORBITAL ORIENTEERING is a suburban orienteering; inside but mainly on the outskirts of the city

MOO is the brainchild of one-man-band Remo Madella - orienteer and map-maker from Italy
MOO is a friendly event, not affiliated with Orienteering Federations - there is no insurance - no medical assistance
