EARLY YEARS - 2005

Wooden board, paper base map and mylar: bound together with masking tape. Scissors to cut base map. The same compass by MOSCOMPASS, still used now, after 10 years. Mechanical pencils and spare leads. A GPS unit (Garmin eTrex Vista) helps me during the survey in the forest; the GPS data will be imported at home in Ocad with a serial cable.
A scanner is used to transfer survey notes to the computer and it's quite heavy to carry while travelling with public transportation (as I use to do). My first scanner (bought in 2002 for the first map 'Castello di Melegnano') is still working now. Sometimes hotel or clubs provide a scanner, good thing to avoid the heavy load. The laptop (15" screen) is quite heavy and an old mouse is plugged to the USB port through an adapter. |
